Mr. Fleischman is a member in the firm’s Louisville office and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia School of Law. Previously a member of Greenebaum Doll & McDonald, Mr. Fleischman regularly represents clients in the coal mining industry, manufacturers, distributors and entrepreneurs on their business transactions and corporate matters. His work includes negotiating terms of financings and acquisitions, including equipment leases, real estate leases, loans and bond-related financings, equity investments and a broad range of commercial agreements and corporate formation documents.

Recently, Mr. Fleischman represented a group of investors in the acquisition of a major underground coal mine in Colorado, as well as the formation, capitalization and financing of the acquiring entity. His mining industry work has included numerous transactions exceeding a total of $500 million, encompassing mining operations in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. In 2008, he represented a quasi-public corporation in the development, construction and financing of a new 22,000-seat arena in Louisville, which involved negotiating the governing documents for $349 million in bond financing. In lending, Mr. Fleischman has served as counsel to major bank clients in connection with term loans and lines of credit, as well as frequently representing borrowers in credit arrangements with lenders. Recognized as a leading real estate lawyer in Kentucky by Chambers USA, the 2009 Guide notes that he is “highly regarded for lending work.” He also has assisted various domestic and international companies having Kentucky-based operations with real estate and commercial matters.

Mr. Fleischman was formerly the chairman of both the Business Law and Real Estate Law sections of the Louisville Bar Association, and currently serves on the board of directors of the Louisville Orchestra and the Chamber Music Society of Louisville. During law school, he served as Articles Editor for the Virginia Journal of International Law, and has since authored numerous publications and spoken frequently on security interests, real estate law, letters of credit and related topics. He is also the author of Kentucky Secured Transactions Under Revised Article 9 of the UCC (Data Trace Publishing Company 2001, updated annually).
