David Kaplan is the managing member of the Louisville office and a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Harvard Law School. He has extensive experience with a broad range of complex business disputes, commercial arbitrations, government investigations, and class actions. David regularly handles multi-million dollar matters involving financial institutions and highly regulated industries. Successful outcomes include closure of a law enforcement investigation alleging misconduct by a utility in connection with a $125 million regulatory approval, and denial of class certification to a class potentially in the thousands seeking up to $1 billion in damages from a municipal government.

As a former Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House, and Assistant Attorney General, David offers a powerful blend of legal and strategic advice in matters involving government agencies and the legislative branch. Whether a matter involves responding to an agency investigation, complying with a subpoena, or appearing before an administrative or legislative body, he has helped his clients achieve valuable and efficient outcomes.

David presently serves on the board of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's Healthcare, where he participates on the Legal Committee and Environment of Care Committee. Recently, he co-chaired the committee which merged the Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Community Federation. He is presently co-chairing the search process for a CEO to lead the new combined organization.

David received a Harry S. Truman Scholarship in college, and he was recognized in 1998 as one of Louisville's Top Forty under 40. Immediately after law school, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable John G. Heyburn II in the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
