Mr. Miller is the Managing Member of the firm and a graduate of Northwestern University and the Washington & Lee University School of Law. He has an extensive background in business, mineral and banking law and as such, handles a wide variety of commercial and mineral cases for the firm.

Recently, he successfully represented a large coal company in Delaware District Court in a $200 million fraud claim against the world’s third largest investment banking organization. He also defended a large coal equipment dealer in a multi-million dollar trial in Federal Bankruptcy Court. Mr. Miller has also defended the CEO and other executives of a $3.5 billion public company against numerous claims asserted by a lender. Mason represented one of Kentucky’s largest coal companies in litigation resulting from a $62 million transaction with a public energy company, and he currently represents the second-largest shareholder of a technology company against a sitting U.S. Congressman in a multi-million dollar case concerning claims of fraud and Civil RICO violations for bribery charges related to actions taken in Nigeria and other African nations.

With respect to transactional matters, Mr. Miller has negotiated and/or structured the purchase of in excess of $500 million of mineral and surface property acquisitions in the last year alone on behalf of a number of the firm’s clients.

Mr. Miller has served as an instructor at the Williams School of Commerce at Washington & Lee University on a variety of subjects, and is the author of numerous published articles. He serves on the Board of Jewish Hospital/St. Mary’s Healthcare, the state’s largest hospital system.
